SUMMER SKINCARE:
THE HYDRATION EDITION

SUMMER SKINCARE: <br>THE HYDRATION EDITION

Sunshine, chlorinated pools, hot weather and travel can take a toll on summer skin. The solution? Start by focusing on deep cleansing with mild exfoliation and hydration to help maintain water levels. It’s especially important to fortify and protect the skin by replenishing vitamins and antioxidants it needs to function at it’s best. Healthy skin is hydrated skin!

YOUR SUMMER SKIN SOLUTION:

DAILY DEEP CLEANSING, MILD EXFOLIATION AND HYDRATION

HYDRATING AM ROUTINE:

Your summer AM routine is all about reinforcing the skin barrier to retain moisture while protecting skin from environmental damage.

STEP 1: Cleanse

In the morning, wash with a gentle cleanser and use a wet washcloth to remove.

STEP 2: Tone to hydrate and prep

Toner is the first step in your mission to prep the skin for hydration, making it more permeable and better able to absorb products that follow.

STEP 3: Protect with antioxidants

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant and a La Suite non-negotiable. Not only are antioxidants the first line of defense against environmental damage and skin aging, but Vitamin C offers natural photo protection against UVA and UVB rays.

20% Active Vitamin C Serum

OPTIONAL - Feeling dehydrated? Quench thirsty skin with a serum.

The goal of this step is to add hydration to the skin with a water-based serum, then seal it in with moisturizer.

STEP 4: Reinforce the skin barrier with a replenishing moisturizer

“Everyone needs a moisturizer-even if you have oily skin.”

- La Suite Skincare founder Rhea Souhleris Grous

Hydrating Niacinamide Cream

STEP 5: Shield from damage with SPF

Sunscreen is the non-negotiable last step of your AM skincare routine. We recommend mineral sunscreen, which works by reflecting UV rays and is perfect for sensitive skin.

TIP: Apply a half-teaspoon of sunscreen of at least SPF 30 to the face (all the way to the hairline), ears, neck and décolleté. Reapply throughout the day.

HYDRATING PM ROUTINE:

What is Rhea’s summer PM skincare philosophy? Double cleanse, hydrate and repair skin overnight with retinol. Yes, you can use retinol in the summer! Just be sure not to skimp on the SPF during the day.

STEP 1: Double cleanse

A thorough PM cleanse is a La Suite must. Use an oil-based cleanser like Cold Cream Cleanser to dissolve makeup and sunscreen, followed by a second cleanser to erase every trace of dirt, pollution and excess sebum. Rhea loves to follow Cold Cream Cleanser with Lactic Acid Brightening Cream Cleanser for a deep down summer cleanse with gentle exfoliation. Learn more about washing your face the right way.

Step 2: Tone to hydrate and prep

As in the AM, the first phase of your hydration routine is all about preparing the skin for the products that follow.

Step 3: Repair and regulate with retinol

Fine lines, sun damage, acne, dark patches and laxity are all improved by regular retinol use. In the summer, it’s especially helpful to keep dead cell build up and pore congestion at bay. What’s more, vitamin A (aka retinol) improves all cell functions, helping skin preserve it’s hydration levels. Learn more about retinol, the non-negotiable powerhouse of your PM routine.

OPTIONAL - Hydrate with a serum.

The goal of this step is to add hydration to the skin with a water-based serum, then seal it in with moisturizer.

STEP 4: Reinforce the skin barrier with a replenishing moisturizer

Rhea recommends a simple PM moisturizer that uses ceramides, hyaluronic acid or squalane to reinforce the skin barrier. She also loves anti-inflammatory ingredients like green tea polyphenols for their soothing properties.
